English and Academic Skills Presessional Course

The English & Academic Skills (EAS) Presessional Course is designed for students with an intermediate level of English or above (Minimum IELTS 4.0 in all skills) who wish to improve their knowledge of spoken and written English in preparation for academic study at a UK University.

Students who successfully complete the EAS Course do not need to take the IELTS exam in order to progress to an academic programme.

The EAS Programme

The EAS programme is suitable for:

  • Undergraduate and postgraduate students intending to apply to, or holding either a conditional or unconditional offer from, the University of Birmingham.

  • PhD applicants intending to start their studies in October, January or May.

  • Study Abroad students.

  • Applicants with an offer for the International Foundation programme in Arts, Business and Law, or in Science & Engineering at the University of Birmingham.

  • Applicants planning to study at another UK university.

The course has multiple entry points and, depending  on your current level of English and your academic programme's entry requirements, you can join in October, January, April or July and study for a period of between 11 and 32 weeks.

How to Apply

Follow the link above to apply now for the Autumn  Term (begins 26 September 2011) or a later course. The  final deadline for  EAS  Autumn  term applications  is 29 August 2011 and applicants should allow sufficient time for their visa application in order to be ready to begin their studies promptly on 26 September 2011.
