Insessional Support

EISU provide free English language support for international students who are studying here at the University of Birmingham. 

This support includes:

Termtime classes: Free open access courses to help you develop your academic and social English.  They are held every lunchtime in termtime and also on .Wednesday afternoons.

One-to-one consultations:  Free individual help with your writing is available all year round including vacations.

Free self-study materials: You will find hand-outs of any English classes you cannot attend, and extra materials for self-study online, on our WebCT pages.  To download them:

         go to http://weblearn.bham.ac.uk 

         click on ‘self-enrolment’

         click on ‘EISU-English for International Students Unit'            

         enter your University username and password

         go back to http://weblearn.bham.ac.uk

        choose WebCT 2011-12, EISU.

       You'll find the materials under 'open access classes'.

       If you ever get a blank screen instead of a document,

       click on the yellow bar at the top, and then

       go back into EISU WebCT again to find the document.  You can now watch a video to see 'how to self-enrol on our Webct pages'.

STAR Assessment

EISU  provide webCT-based English language assessment.   For details, see EISU WebCT.
