She has taught English Language and Literature at secondary level, and English as a Second Language in Adult Education Centres in Birmingham. She has been working in the field of English as a Foreign Language in Selly Oak Colleges since 1979.
Her particular interests are in the area of cultural interaction and the use of literature in the language classroom.
She has been responsible for the English programme of the Japanese students from Baika Women's College in Osaka, studying at Westhill College in the autumn term in 1998, 1999 and 2000. In September 2000, she took part in an English language training programme for Social Work lecturers at Saratov State Technical University in Russia.
In addition to teaching, she is the Student Advisor for the General English Programme.
