Els Van Geyte has a Master’s Degree in Germanic Philology from the Catholic University of Louvain, Belgium, as well as an MA in Modern European Studies from London Metropolitan University. Her teaching qualifications include a Post Graduate Teaching Qualification from Louvain University, a Certificate in Teaching English for Business (LCCI), and the Cambridge DELTA.
Els has taught French, Dutch and English in a variety of settings. She also has experience of translating, editing, examining, devising exams (Institute of Linguists), writing language courses and teacher training.
She started teaching at the University of Birmingham in 1999 and is now EISU’s Insessional Coordinator. She teaches, writes and updates insessional courses, and maintains on-line and other resources. She also teaches on the English and Academic Skills and Business Presessionals.
Her professional interests include materials development, learner autonomy, teacher training, error correction, and grammar for academic purposes. She is currently working towards a PhD in English, on the subject of grammar and argumentation in academic writing.
