Jonathan Rees holds a B.A. in Modern Languages, a M.A. in Teaching English as a Foreign Language, and Diplomas in Education and French Studies.
Jonathan has been with the Unit since 1994 and is deputy Director of the Unit with special responsibility for staffing and assessment issues.
Jonathan has taught in different countries including Japan, China, Denmark and France. He is an External Examiner for the JYA at Aston University and an External Examiner for the International Foundation Programme run by the Northern Consortium of United Kingdom (Universities).
He has published widely on the area of assessment and study abroad issues. His research interests include: corpus applications to language testing, factors affecting foreign language proficiency gains within the study abroad context, and issues of quality and assessment within Higher Education.
